Skin Care Myths...
ITS NORMAL TO BREAK OUT AFTER A FACIAL
FALSE: Some of my clients over the years are not completely sure or are scared to get a facial because theyve had them before & have broken out. If your skin care expert is using products appropriate for your skin type..you wont break out.
CREAMY CLEANSERS ARE ONLY FOR DRY SKIN
FALSE: The purpose of a milk, cream, or lotion type cleansers are that the emollients or oils work to dissolve and melt makeup out of the pores, without drying the skin out. There are many lightweight non-pore-clogging formulas that won't leave the skin feeling greasy. The best way to remove makeup is to massage cleanser on dry skin, then wet your fingertips, work through again, and rinse well. Complete by wiping over the skin with our Facial sponges.
IF A PRODUCT IS EXPENSIVE, ITS HIGH QUALITY
FALSE: Youd think you are getting more for your money when you pay a high price for a product but in the case of skin care, it is simply untrue. Big companies spend lots of money and time on marketing and packaging. The best skin care products out there are the ones that work for you .
CHOCOLATE AND GREASY FOODS WILL MAKE YOUR SKIN BREAK OUT
FALSE: Many people have heard this but there is no evidence indicating that they cause / increase breakouts. The foods that most often cause breakouts are dairy products (when the breakouts are in the chin and jaw area) and citrus foods (when the breakouts are in the cheek area).
YOU CAN SHRINK YOUR PORES
FALSE: Everyone thinks their pores are too big. Genetics determine your pore size, and people with oily skin tend to have larger pores. Certain products help make the pores look smaller, but physically, it doesn't change. You can effectively minimize the appearance by having them cleaned out with regular facials, and also by exfoliating and using a glycolic cream recommended by your esthetician at at home.
